Terms and Titles

TERMS AND TITLES found on this site with certain dogs.

CH. = conformation Champion

 

OFA, FCI, CD, CHD, HD , H, Penn Hip = official Hip results on a register
are the other forms of official Hip result tests and registers, used either
in North America, or in Europe.

International CH. = In Europe this means the dog has become a conformation
CH. In more than one country, and has as well a working title CH.

BOB - Best of Breed

BOS - Best Opposite Sex

HIC= Herding instinct tested

CGC= Canine Good Citizenship award.

TT= temperament tested

HT= Herding tested

HS= Herding Started

PT= Herding tested by another system

TDI= Therapy Dog Institute Certificate

Rassemblement or Rass.= Evaluation system for selecting the top breeding
dogs under a system of experts in the breed who must be in consensus from
top trained experts in Europe.

HOF= Hall of Fame

ROM= Reward of Merit

In Europe

RCI is short for Reglement de Concours International
(combining tracking , obedience, defense)

CACS short for Certificat d'Aptitude au Championnat de Conformote au Standard
(kind of Winner dog or bitch here in USA )

CACIB short for Certificat d'Aptitude au Championnat International de Beaute
(same as above but given at international shows)

Recommende- attainable only after winning SEL.
If a dog or bitch proves themselves as good sires or dams, they are sited as such by this award.

ELITE is a higher level of breeding status than Recommende.
It requires a certain number of successful offpspring who are titled at high levels,
and this can not be acomplished by counting in the success of repeat breedings, but instead, with various dogs or bitches.

Vice World Champion is second place after World Champion
World CH., an international show where only one dog per year wins this award.

Meilleure female means the first place winner at the French Elverage for that year.

SCH I,II, III,- titles for a sport of Schutzhund
IPO I,II,III titles ( combination with SCH. such as tracking, obedience, protection)
SEL- breeding selection dog or bitch for over all excellence in all areas of the breed standard.

Terms specific to America    

HOF - Hall of Fame

ROM - Reward of Merit

ROMX - having a high number of Ch. Offspring

ROMP- having a high number of Ch. Performance titled off spring, some at the advanced level

WB - Winners Bitch

WD - Winners Dog

RWD - Reserve Winner's Dog

RWB - Reserve Winner's Bitch

BP - Best Puppy

 

Group placements- Winning at a show beyond BOB,
but winning a placement in the classified group of breeds that fall under one category.

Brood Bitch- Winning at the USA national for production as Dam, only one per year.

 

Top Sire- Same as above but for male

 

BIS- Best in Show, top award possible in a conformation dog show
inclusive of all breeds at that particular show

 

BW - ' Best of Winners' picked male or female of all the winning class
dogs except CH. Class
